At Last, Aregbesola Sets to Dissolves Executive Secretaries Tomorrow
All things being equal, Governor Rauf Aregbesola is set to dissolve the Caretaker Committees in the 31 Local Government of Osun state.
CityMirrorNews gathered that the Executive Secretaries of the local governments have been notified of the long overdue dissolution.
The Governor is expected to also announce the creation of 27 additional local government.
Governor Aregbesola had a month ago held a meeting with the Executive Secretaries where they were informed that they would be leaving office on February 23. But the dissolution did not take place because of Aregbesola’s travelling to Saudi Arabia with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sources within the Forum of Executive Secretaries and government officials confided in CityMirror that the dissolution would take place tomorrow.
The executive secretaries were inaugurated in 2011. Their continuous stay in office had generated controversies among chieftains and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had been agitating for the removal of the executive secretaries after they had spent two years in office.
The executive secretaries were among the worse hit people with the economic quagmire of the state. Aside the 50 per cent reduction in their salaries, allowances and other emolument have not been paid over the years.
As at the time of filing this report, all the executive secretaries are holding meeting at the ALGON office, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abere.
