Oyo Women Call For More Prayers For Nigeria

As an affirmation to its faith in the efficacy of prayer, Women Intercessory Network (WIN), Oyo State Chapter, has called on all Nigerians to intensify their passion for prayers as a solution to the challenges facing the country.

WIN, a prayer project put in place by the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Florence Ajimobi, listed guidelines to be followed in prayers as focus, knowing one’s assignment, seeking like-minded people in prayer, faith in God and fearlessness.

During a recent monthly programme that took place at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, WIN  stressed that without faith in God, no earthly solution can resolve Nigeria’s current challenges.

Those who featured during the programme included Pastor (Mrs) Funmi Hosea Adeniyi, Rev. Omowumi Popoola,Evangelist Toun Soetan and a host of other women Ministers from various churches.

Rev. Popoola who spoke on “Arise, Let Us Build,” quoted from Nehemiah 2:11-20, Hebrews 3:4, Colossians 1:15 and submitted that God is the builder of everything and the creator of all good things, adding that “Jesus Christ is the foundation; by Him all things were created.”

She noted that one can be a successful builder by getting one’s focus right, know one’s assignment and properly network with people of like mind. She said, “Nobody will build Nigeria for us. The current economic depression is not peculiar to Nigeria alone as it is being experienced in USA, UK, Asia and others. We shall overcome ours if we sustain our faith in God and  cooperate with our leaders.”

Pastor (Mrs.) Adeniyi admonished believers to refrain from negative pronouncements on their country  and their leaders, stressing that there was great power in the tongue. She led a prayer for the sustenance of peace and stability in the country, pointing out that without peace, no nation can achieve greatness.

She advised believers to resist the temptation of fear and negative thoughts adding that those vices are the weapons being used by the enemy.

Evangelist Toun Soetan who led praise and worship session commended the initiative of Mrs. Ajimobi for setting up the programme and prayed for the success of the tenure of this administration at the state and national level respectively.
