FEDPOLY Offa Students Establish Bread Bakery

In its bid to generate revenue and contribute to the economy of the state, the Student Union Government, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State has established a bread bakery in the school campus.
President of the SUG, Comrade Imran Yusuf said the union resolved to launch the bakery to promote entrepreneurship and encourage the students on business ideas and self-reliance.
According to Imran, the bakery would not only generate income for the union but would also add value to the school, stating that the project is a reflection of what they were being taught in school on entrepreneur.
Delivering her Keynote Address, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmad, wife of the Kwara state Governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed, commended the FEDPOLY Offa students for thinking beyond the four walls of their institution.
The first lady who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr B.O Abioye, said the only way to stem the tide of unemployment in Nigeria is to be creative and embrace entrepreneur.
She stressed the need for students to participate in skill acquisition, saying that entrepreneurship is part of the agenda of the present government under the leadership of President Muhammad Buhari.
In his address, the Acting Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Mrs. Kuburat Olaosebikan said the launching of the bread bakery is a good step in the right direction, maintaining that the students have demonstrated that they would not be among the millions of their colleagues who will be looking for white kola jobs.
Olaosebikan stated that the students have shown interest in the federal government entrepreneurship policy, saying that the door is open for any interested student who want to learn how to make use of flour.
The acting rector advised the incoming S.U.G executives to emulate the developmental programmes of the Yusuf led administration by looking into other areas of students needs.
