Skills Acquisition: EdePoly Trains 4,000 Final Year Students on Agricultural Entrepreneurship Skills

In an effort to grease the wheel of economic development and to accelerate youth agric entrepreneurship skill, the Federal Polytechnics, Ede, has trained over 4,000 final year students on various agricultural programmes.

The agricultural programme which meant to make the students to be self reliant was flagged off between the Polytechnics management and Agrikk Matas Institute in Osogbo.

Giving the breakdown of the skill acquisition, the Rector, Federal Polytechnics, Ede, Builder Patrick-Husseini, contended that the skill acquisition programme revolves around fishery, piggery, glasscutter and mushroom training for both HND and ND graduates.

Husseini further explained that the authority only kicked  start with the four skills, saying other aspects of the agricultural training would equally be explored in order to make the graduates of the institution to be self reliant after their studies.

The Rector opined that the institution will not relent in its efforts to offer the students the best for the future endeavors.

He also, noted that in line with the federal government efforts to revamp the economy of the country, the authority of the institution would not relent in its efforts to transform the nation’s economy through their graduates.

He said apart from training given to the students effort is also on to make all staffs of the institution to be self sustaining through several agricultural programmes.

In his own reaction, the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Mr Biodun Oluwasegun-Babalola, expressed optimism that after the programme the students would be useful for themselves and the country at large.

Babalola who commended the effort of the rector towards making the graduands of the institution to be self reliant after graduation contented that institution would not relent in the pursuit of excellent at all time.

He also, vowed that any students that excel in any skill of the agric programme will be assisted by the institution.

He, therefore, commended the Rector for his developmental mission and vision for the institution.

In her own part, the Director, Agrikk Matas Institute, Mrs Afolabi Olubumi said adequate training will be given to the participants in line with the institution s
request.

She urged students to take their chosen field seriously in order to  give them the hope of tomorrow for the nation.
