Security forces have rescued all 20 villagers kidnapped from Dunfawa village in Moriki District of Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
Security sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the victims were freed unharmed after they were abducted by armed bandits who attacked the village on Saturday, causing panic among residents.
According to the sources, the rescue took place around 4 pm after joint security patrol teams mounted sustained pressure on the abductors in the Moriki area.
The bandits were forced to flee and abandon their captives during the operation.
According to sources, “All the 20 abducted persons were rescued safely and without injuries. They were taken to a government hospital for medical check-up and later debriefed before being reunited with their families.”
The sources added that security patrols have been strengthened in the area to prevent further attacks and to support efforts to rescue other abducted persons in nearby communities.
Residents of Dunfawa village welcomed the rescue and called on security agencies to maintain a strong presence to deter future abductions.
