Anxiety Could Double Risk Of Developing Parkinson Disease –Study
A new study has found that anxiety could be an early warning sign of Parkinson’s disease.
The study was published in the ‘British Journal of General Practice’. Parkinson’s disease is a disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors.
Nerve cell damage in the brain causes dopamine levels to drop, leading to the symptoms of Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s often starts with a tremor in one hand.
Other symptoms are slow movement, stiffness and loss of balance, though medication can help control the symptoms of Parkinson.
People with anxiety have at least double the risk of developing Parkinson’s compared to those without the mood disorder, results show.
Further, specific Parkinson’s symptoms serve as warning signs of the disorder in people with anxiety, the researchers found.
