Osun: Life-Care International Organises Free Medical Outreach For Telemu Residents
An Osogbo-based non-governmental organisation, Total Support for Life-Care Development International Initiative also known as Life-Care International yesterday organized free medical outreach to Telemu Community, Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area of Osun state.
CityMirrorNews reports that residents of the sleepy community trooped out en masse to benefit from the free medical services rendered by the Life-Care International.
Speaking, the Chairperson of the organization, Mrs Ajibola Falode said , the objective of the free medical outreach was to raise awareness for the prevention and precautions to be taken for the general well-being of the residents of the community.
According to her, “We have chosen to reach out to indigent men and women, especially the aged, to provide medical enlightenment, basic Medicare and tests, and eye care services.
“We believe the awareness will go a long way in shaping the way the people handle their health issues. It is expected to help in restoring and improving their quality of life. Good health is very essential to the economic development of every society.”
“As a charitable organization, Life-Care International works with philanthropic individuals, community heads, and other like-minded agencies to alleviate poverty and improve livelihood through sustainable interventions.
“The organization has worked significantly to provide services to the less privileged in the State and to promote their standard of living through the provision of free skill acquisition training.”
Mrs. Falode stressed that at Total Support for Life-Care Development International Initiative, also known as Life-Care International, they recognize the significant challenges faced by the people, especially the aged and the less privileged, in accessing adequate healthcare services due to limited resources, lack of awareness, especially at the grassroots, and socio-economic constraints that prevent them from receiving essential medical care.
To address the issue, she said they have organized comprehensive health programs aimed at providing vital medical services, health education, and support to the people of Osun State, especially those at the grassroots, which will be held in eighteen (18) rural communities across the nine (9) Federal constituencies of the State.
In her speech, the wife of the Osun State Governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, who also graced the occasion with her presence, commended Life-Care International and its Chairperson for their foresight in their charitable activities.
She commended the people of Telemu community for their turnout at the outreach and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the people’s well-being in the State.
While expressing her satisfaction with the organization’s programs, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke stressed that the government cannot meet every demand of citizens, as human wants are insatiable. She now enjoined the general public, who are more privileged and have an abundance, to contribute their quota to the well-being of the people around them and to society at large.
Earlier in his remarks, the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) Madojutola Alade Ajiboye, Akindiya II, the Olowu of Telemu, who was represented by Chief Moluberin of Telemu, Prince J.O. Oyewo, expressed his gratefulness to the organization and described the event as a humanitarian gesture for the people of Telemu. He urged the people to take note of the medical advice to be given to them and adhere to their health status at all times.
In their separate remarks, two of the beneficiaries, Chief Afeez Owolabi and Mrs. Sidikatu Abeni Lasisi, also commended the organization and expressed their satisfaction with the outreach as a relief to the people. They said they had experienced something like that a long time ago, and their usual medical treatments were always on local herbs, but with the medical outreach, they now understand the way to live a good healthy life.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of Osun Health Insurance (O’HIS) registration forms to the people to benefit from the government health insurance program in the State.
