Mohbad’s Father Inspects Singer’s Corpse Months After Exhumation
The family of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, otherwise known as MohBad, has visited the morgue where the corpse of its son is being kept since it was exhumed.
The was contained in a statement signed by a member of the legal team of the family, Monisola Odumosu.
She noted that the visitation became necessary due to rumours that the government was allegedly preventing visitation to the morgue.
According to the statement released on Thursday , Odumosu said the visitation was without any restraint from anyone.
“The Aloba family and their legal team were at the morgue last Friday to see the remains of the late singer–Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba.
“Contrary to the fake news that the family of the late singer, (IlerioluwaOladimeji Aloba’s family), were not allowed to see his body at the morgue, the legal team and his family sighted the corpse last Friday,” Odumosu disclosed in the statement.
She added that the visitation team comprised Mohbad’s father, Mr. Gurexy, a supporter of the advocacy group, Justice for Mohbad, Emmanuel Oroko, Esq., and herself, who were both representing the new law firm hired by the deceased’s family.
Odumosu said the head of the morgue explained that the family did not require any application or official approval from the mortuary management before coming to view the body of the late singer.
Mohbad died on September 12 at the age of 27, with circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversies on social media.
Being a former record label signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022.
The Lagos State Police Command had on September 18, 2023, inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death.
His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley, and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, amongst others.
The body of Mohbad was on September 21, 2023, exhumed for autopsy to unravel the cause of his death.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had tweeted in September 2023 that an “autopsy has been concluded” and the police were “awaiting result.”
In the course of its probe, the police declared Primeboy wanted on October 4, 2023, after which he turned himself in two days after.
Meanwhile, Mohbad’s father, in November 2023, had stated that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his authorisation.
