Grammy award-winning Nigerian music superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burnaboy has said that our African history is not properly documented and taught in schools.
In a video, via TikTok, @afrikancommunity, the afrobeat star said that western culture and history is taught and more promoted in schools than our African history and culture.
“They don’t teach us that in school, they don’t tell us about ourselves, they tell us about the Queen of England. And you know, they tell us a bunch of stuff that has no significance to us that shows us, that puts in our head that, we have no power. All we are is inferior to these people.
Talking about him wanting to know the truth about our history before slavery and be our white man came.”
“I also want the truth of our history before slavery, and before our white man came and before all that’s told, this is not how it always was. Some people came here and lied to you and took the crown off your head and told you that you were a slave when really they here and met you as a king,” he said.
