Kwara Orders Schools To Resume January 18
Kwara State Government has announced 18th January, 2021 as the beginning of second term academic session for primary and secondary schools in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, made this known during the Education Stakeholders meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters on Thursday.
According to her, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved 18th January, 2021 as the official commencement date of 2020/2021 second term academic session in the state.
She further reminded them that safety guidelines of Covid-19 should be strictly adhered to in all schools in the state.
In her words, “nobody should enter the school premises without a facemask. Any school that does not comply with NCDC and Federal Ministry of Education guidelines will face appropriate sanctions”.
She reiterated the commitment of the present administration in the state to flattening the curve of Covid-19 transmission in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, Chief Olu Adewara,who spoke on behalf of stakeholders, appreciated the Governor for being proactive in decision making, especially on educational development in the state. He assured that they will abide by the rules and regulations of Covid-19.
The meeting was well attended by stakeholders in the education sector and management of the Ministry.
