Kwara Varsity To Adopt Malete Primary School

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN, has disclosed that arrangements have been concluded by the University to adopt a primary school in Malete as part of the Institution’s corporate responsibility to its host community.
Professor Akanbi, who made the disclosure when the Malete Community Development Association (MCDA) paid him a courtesy visit in his office, explained that the need to adopt the school and furnish it with teachers became imperative in order to ensure that the host community adequately keys into the potential of the University.
He said the idea was to give the children of the host community qualitative primary education in order to prepare them to compete favourably with their counterparts in other schools in the state, adding that the standard of that school would be raised such that the staff of the University would be proud to enrol their children in it.
The Vice Chancellor also promised that, aside Malete, other neighbouring communities would feel the presence of the Institution in their domains, saying the University would look for ways of attracting basic necessities of life to the area at large so as to make life more bearable for them.
While thanking the Malete community and its environs for their cooperation, Professor Akanbi assured them that he would be fair and just to all.
Earlier, the leader of the team who doubles as the Registrar of the College of Education, Ilorin, Alhaji Abiodun Ibrahim, had sought for a robust relationship between KWASU and Malete community and other adjoining communities.
Alhaji Ibrahim specifically appealed to the Vice Chancellor to help facilitate the construction of Malete road, the upgrading of Malete Water Dam, an improvement in electricity supply to the area, among other basic amenities, to make life more conducive for the people of the area.
Also speaking, the Magaji of Malete who spoke through, Alhaji Mustapaha Kabir, thanked the Vice Chancellor for giving them the opportunity to meet with him, while also appreciating him for all the programmes and projects he has planned for the community and its environs.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Salman Toyin of Department of Anatomy, University of Ilorin described the emergence of Professor Akanbi as the Vice Chancellor of the KWASU as commendable.
