Determined to move the Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete, Moro local government area of the state to greater heights during his tenure as he had promised, the institution’s new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, has constituted a 15-member Consultative Committee to serve as an advisory body for the Vice Chancellor.

Inaugurating the committee members at the KWASU Conference Centre in Ilorin, the state capital, the Vice Chancellor noted that the constitution of such committee was in line with the law establishing the institution.

He said: “Specifically, section 20 of the KWASU law provides that such a committee be put in place to advise the Vice Chancellor on matters affecting the welfare of the University Community.”

Prof. Akanbi has therefore admonished the committee members to as a matter of priority come up with useful suggestions and pieces of advice on how to collectively move the Institution forward, adding that the committee should meet once every three months.

The VC, who stressed his respect for the rule of law and due process, said that would guide the day-to-day running of the University under his leadership.

The committee is chaired by Prof. A.G.F. Alabi, with Dr. Jimoh Ajadi as Secretary.

Other members of the committee include representatives of academics, leaders of non academic unions, the alumni association, and students’ representatives.
