Against the backdrop of increasing rate of moral decadence among Nigerian youth most especially students and pupils at all levels, the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in their effort to provide sustainable solution to this ugly trend has resolved to lay much emphasis on character modeling, giving the needed quality and quantitative education to the pupils.
This resolution topped the lists of the recommendations of the Board arrived at the end of a stakeholders meeting held yesterday by some senior staff of the board and other stakeholders aimed at conducting thorough x-ray of some emerging issues in Nigeria as it relates to educational policies and progammes among many others.
For some time now, many concerned stakeholders have been making frantic efforts to proffer solutions to the numerous social vices in our society bearing in mind that no society can achieve true success and prosperity without its youth having the right mix of cognitive and non cognitive competencies with high moral values and Godly characters to achieve real success in life.
Speaking with newsmen at the end of the meeting, a top educational echelon in the State Alhaji Fatai Adesina Kolawole said Osun SUBEB have concluded plans to ensure instilling of Omoluabi ethos in the pupils.
In his words, he said “we will emphasize literacy, numeracy and encourage reading habits but character moulding shall be done pari pasu and given due recognition amongst teaching force, stakeholders and pupils”.
The respected educationist therefore concluded it is that best way to the future.
