Police Arrest Siblings For Killing, Burying Elder Brother
Two brothers, Lucky and Uzoma Amadi, have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly killing their elder brother, Orindu, and burying him in a shallow grave in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly tried to cover up the alleged crime by telling neighbours that Orindu had travelled.
Suspicion, however, grew after they gave conflicting accounts of his whereabouts and calls to his phone went unanswered.
This led local youths to storm the Amadi family compound on Tuesday morning, demanding answers.
An eyewitness, Chidiebube Okeoma, told journalists that the brothers allegedly confessed to the killing to avoid being lynched.
They claimed Orindu was responsible for their father’s death about ten years ago under “questionable circumstances.”
The suspects then reportedly guided the youths to a shallow grave in their compound, where Orindu’s remains were exhumed.
The situation reportedly escalated, with the youths threatening to carry out jungle justice.
Police from the Mbieri Division intervened just in time, Okeoma said, noting that a private citizen had alerted authorities to the unfolding crisis.
The brothers are now in police custody as investigations continue.
