The prosecution alleged that the offences contravened Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code Laws of Nigeria.

According to the Police First Information Report, the two suspects conspired to attack their 54-year-old uncle who attempted to mediate in a misunderstanding between them and their father.

The report added that the suspects attacked Abubakar machetes while their father took his cows for grazing in the bush.

It read in part, “Investigation conducted at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin, revealed that the suspects wanted to attack their father over a little misunderstanding which led to the intervention of the uncle.

“The father took his cows for grazing and returned late only to discover that his children had macheted his younger brother to death.

“The suspects confessed to the crime that they were not happy with their uncle for not allowing them to attack their father which made them kill him.”

The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, urged the court to remand the accused persons in custody.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate A. A Issa ordered the remand of the suspects in the Federal Custodial Centre in Ilorin and adjourned the case till November 1, 2023, for further hearing.
