24-yr-Old Fake Policewoman Arrested For Robbing PoS Operators In Osogbo

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by the Osun State police command for allegedly impersonating police officer to dupe Point of Sales PoS operators in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

The suspect, according to the police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola was nabbed after allegeldly committing the offence.

Opalola said that the suspect allegedly pretended to be a police officer to loot various Point of Sale (POS) operators in the state capital.

She said the suspect was taken into custody after being saved from a mob.

Opalola said: “She was taken to the Ata-Oja Police Division in Osogbo by the personnel who prevented her from being lynched.

“In April, the suspect went to a PoS stand and presented herself as a police officer serving at Ata-Oja Police Division.

“She ‘arrested’ the sales girl and seized her bag containing a PoS machine, N20,000 and one phone valued N15,000″, Opalola said.

The suspect tricked her victim into making a photocopy of a document while they proceeded to the Ata-Oja Police Division, but then fled.

Upon arrest, N246,650, an Opay PoS machine worth N30,000, one phone, one voter’s card, one identity card from Ekiti State University, and one were found.

Additionally, two PoS company record books and a dead-battery itel phone that may have belonged to another victim were discovered.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect had already transferred N100,000 to a bank account via the recovered PoS machine. She will shortly face charges in court.”
