Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Woman For Killing Co-Wife With Pestle
A 20-year-old woman, Maryam Ibrahim has been arrested by the operatives of Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing her co-wife, Hafsat Ibrahim with a pestle.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State command, SP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil said the suspect of Gar village, Pali ward of Alkaleri LGA was arrested on November 22nd.
According to the PPRO, the husband of the victim, 40 years old Ibrahim Sambo of Gar village of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State had on the 22nd November, 2022, reported the incident at the Maina-maji Divisional Police Headquarters.
SP Wakil further said that Ibrahim Sambo reported that “on the same date at about 1200hrs, his second wife Maryam Ibrahim ‘f’ aged 20yrs of the same address used a pestle to hit his first wife Hafsat Ibrahim on the head in her room.”
It was gathered that the deceased’s husband informed the police that as a result, the victim sustained serious degree of injury and was taken to Primary Health-care centre, Gar village where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.
“On receiving the report, a team of detectives attached to the Command swung into action and arrested the suspect”, the PPRO said.
He noted that during interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime.
