Police Nab 2 For Kidnapping Ogun Pastor, Demand Ransom
The Ogun state police command has apprehended two suspects for the abduction of Pastor Mapai Samuel of the ZOE Family International Church, Odo-Eran, Abeokuta.
The female suspect, Ibikunle Opeyemi and Kadiri Jamiu, were arrested following a distress call received at the Aregbe Police Division.
The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen that two men in military camouflage accompanied by a woman invaded the church while the pastor was preaching at about 8pm, dragged him out of the church and took him away.
According to him, shortly after the clergyman was taken away, the invaders called to demand ransom.
Oyeyemi said the DPO of Aregbe, CSP Ikechukwu Gabriel, mobilised his men on “technical and intelligence-based investigation.”
He said the team later discovered that the suspects were hiding somewhere around Adigbe area of Abeokuta and that their men stormed the hideout, rescued the victim and apprehended the two suspects, but that the two men in military camouflage escaped.
He further said, “On interrogation, the woman claimed to have been in a business relationship with the pastor, and that the pastor cheated her in the course of the business which made her to contact the three men to kidnap him in order to teach him a lesson.”
