Woman Beats Maid To Death, Dumps Body In Bush
The National Agency for the Prohibition trafficking (NAPTIP ) Anambra State Command have arrested a 37-year- old woman, Udeogu Chinelo for beating her maid to death.
NAPTIP Public Relations Officer, Okafor Anthony said the suspect was arrested on October 5th 2022, in a primary school where she enrolled the victim.
He said the suspect after inflicting grievous harm on the child and beating her to death went to school to request for the school fees paid for the victim when the authorities question her on the whereabouts of the child. she couldn’t provide a reasonable answer which prompted her arrests.
The woman took NAPTIP officials to the bush where she buried the child.
The statement reads “Anambra State Command arrested a 37yr old female suspect in Awka on the 5th October, 2022 for the offence of Child Abuse/ inflicting grievous harm on a child, an offence prohibited in Human Trafficking Act.
“The suspect named Udeogu Chinelo was arrested by NAPTIP operatives in a primary School in Awka where she had earlier enrolled the victim and had gone to collecting back the school fees she paid for the victim.
“While being questioned on the whereabout of the victim, she disclosed that the victim had died”.
“The suspect lead the operatives of NAPTIP to the scene where she disposed the body of the victim, on arriving the scene the victim’s decomposing body was found wrapped in a black nylon bag where the suspect dumped her in the bush around Hezekiah Dike Crescent Awka.
“The suspect claimed that the deceased victim is her granddaughter. The victim was reported to have died on the 29th September,2022. The suspect was immediately handed over to the Police by NAPTIP to investigate the death of the victim.
Speaking in Igbo, she said: “I beat her and she started convulsing so I took her to Kings (hospital). Getting there, she died, so I threw her body here.”
The suspect will be charge to court as soon as investigation is completed he added.
