Three buses loaded with 31 passengers were arrested on Thursday at Erin Ile/Osun State boundary by the Military (Navy) for violating the inter state travel ban order of the federal and Kwara state governments to prevent community spread of Covid-19 in the state.
According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and spokesman for Kwara Covid-19 Technical Committee, the suspects were handed over to the police and they are to appear in court on Friday (today).
The statement said this was part of activities of Offa LGA COVID-19 Committee in collaboration with Igbomina Mobile Healthcare and the Security Agencies to secure the border, adding that this would instil fear in other would-be violators.
The statement assured all residents that the Kwara Covid-19 Technical Committee in collaboration with the medical personnel, security agencies as well as other stakeholders would continue to work assiduously to contain the spread of the deadly virus in the state, urging all to state safe and continue to obey all medical and government directives geared towards ridding Kwara state of coronavirus.
