Court Remands Land Speculator For Fraud In Osun

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a land speculator, Oyediran Mufutau Salami for alleged fraud.

According to Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq, the accused person received the sum of N1,100,000 form one Amusat Abdulrafiu with a promise to sell one plot of land located at Uniosun road, Oke Baale Osogbo to him, which was later confirmed to be false.

Rasaq said that the accused person committed the offence on September 19, 2020 at Uniosun Road oke Baale Osogbo.

Prosecutor further explained that the accused person did obtained the sum of N1,100,000.00 from one Amusat Abdulrafiu with a pretence to secure him plot of land and known fully that your presentation is false.

He disclosed that the accused person did cheat and converted the sum of N1,100,000 obtained from the compliant to his own use.

The offence according to the Prosecutor was contrary to and punishable under Section 419,421 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun 2002.

The 49-year-old land speculator who was facing three-count charge of obtaining money by false, cheating and converting the compliant money to his own use pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against him.

Defence Counsel, Okobe Najite applied for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal term

In her ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesa correctional facility.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till December 21,2020 for ruling on bail.
