Jilted Lover Sets Girlfriend’s Family Members Ablaze In Ondo
By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
A 45-year-old man, Adedeji Williams Adenuga who set his estranged girlfriend’s family of nine ablaze in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo state is now cooling his nerves in Police net.
Adenuga, who was paraded before the Journalists on Tuesday at the Police headquarters office of the Ondo State Police Command in Akure, said he burnt the family of his ex-lover following the abortion of the pregnancy which she had for him.
It would be recalled that the forty five year-old ex-convict had last week Tuesday got wired and invaded the residence of his estranged girlfriend identified as Titi Sunami and set the occupant ablaze before taking to his heels.
His evil action had sent pain, sorrow and grief to the neighbours, families and friends of his ex-girlfriend in the Igbodigo area of Ayeka in Okitipupa of the state.
However, after intense investigation Mr Adenuga best known as ‘Ojuode’ was arrested on Monday evening by the Police, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, while wandering under the bridge.
Speaking without emotion, Adenuga claimed he had invested heavily on his estranged girl-friend before she jilted him based on her elder sister’s advice.
He narrated how both of them had been having issues as a result of which they often drag themselves to the police station for settlement.
“What actually happened was that she (Titi) aborted the four months old pregnancy that she had for me while we were dating each other’.
He went further, though, we had been having issues in recent times and I have spent lots of money on her. I gave her the sum of N30,000 to do petty trading as she sells sachet water.
“Later, I gave her a sum of N25, 000 to keep for me making N55, 000 but I think she spent the money lavishly because she was staying with me.
“And while she was staying with me, I spent money on her because there is this her elder sister called Jumoke who use to collect money from me.
“The elder sister (Jumoke) always control and teach her what to do and the issue became open that we dragged ourselves to police station.
“We later resolved all the issue but surprisingly, Titi parked her property out of the my house saying her sister said I should come and pay N20, 000 for her dowry before she would return.
“I begged them to give me time to look for money, and do the needful but they refused and started playing me, having spent so much for her.
“I now went to the station to report what she and her elder sister were doing to me but the police saw it as a small issue which could be resolved amicably.
“After we left the station, they began to abuse me and made jest of me saying I am a failure and not even a man for dragging them to the police station. In fact, they threatened me.
“They said they would deal with me and even kill me if I do not desist from reporting them on the street. I now see those words as big threats.
“That same day, I planned to take an action and I went to the gas station at night, bought a fuel and stormed their house and poured petrol inside the room while I ran away.” he said.
Speaking on the development, the Ondo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie said that Adenuga was apprehended following “intense man hurt and investigations” by the police.
“He (Adenuga) was arrested in Ijebu Ode area of Ogun state after intense manhunt and investigation carried out by the police.
“Although, the girl whom he jilted him is the only one that survived and she is still receiving treatment in the hospital” Adie added.
