By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
An Ondo state High Court, sitting in Akure, has sentenced Sehidu Adeyemi, the killer of the daughter of the former deputy governor of Ondo state, Khadijat Oluboyo, to death by hanging.
Delivering his judgment on Wednesday, the presiding Justice Samuel Bola, said all the evidence before the court affirmed that Khadija was killed by Adeyemi and found him guilty of the crime.
Justice Bola ruled that going by the findings of the court and the evidences before the court, Adeyemi took the life of the young lady before burying her in his room.
According to the judge, the evidences from the pathologist indicated that the deceased was strangulated to death while her remains were buried in Adeyemi room after shaving her hair and removing two of her teeth.
He noted that the defendant failed to established his innocence in the crime over his failure to raise alarm when the two men who he claimed invaded his room killed khadijat and ordered him to bring jigger and shovel to dig the ground in his room
The judge said the prosecuting counsel established that the convict planned to dispose the decomposing body of the lady after killing her and buried her in his room
He said the accused kept the secret for five days until his immediate brother disclosed to their father about the plans of Adeyemi to dispose the decomposing body of khadijat.
The presiding judge said the convict could not give satisfactory evidence to absolve himself from the death of the deceased , saying all evidences proved that the young lady was not killed by two unknown men but was killed by the defendant.
The Judge however, said” having found you guilty, the sentence of this court upon you is that you, Sehidu Adeyemi, will be hanged until you are dead. May God have mercy on your soul”
