8 Men Remanded For Attacking Policemen In Attempt To Free Suspected Kidnapper In Osun

Eight persons were on Wednesday remanded in correctional center, Ilesa, by an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court in Osun state for allegedly waylaying and attacking some policemen in an attempt to break free a suspected kidnapper being conveyed to the station.
The accused persons are: Oladimeji Abdulah aged 25, Oyetunji Joel (50), Saheed (28),Samuel Augustine(29),Abioye Sunday(35),Muritala Dare(67), Abioye Taye, 27, and Abosede Adediran(23).
The Police prosecutor, S.O Oladele, said that the accused persons attacked the police while conveying a suspected kidnapper who was arrested by them.
The suspects carted guns, machete, stick, Techno spark3, ItelS12, a wristwatch, a chain, the sum of seven thousand naira and three exhibit riffles recovered from suspected kidnapper after arrest.
The accused persons were alleged to have committed the crime on October 21,2019 at Oyan town, Osun State.
The accused persons were alleged to have vandalized a Suzuki mini bus worth #1.5m in which the police were conveying the suspect in.
According to the prosecutor, the accused persons injured the policemen and also poured petrol on them in attempt to burn them.
Oladele gave the names of the alleged attacked pplicemen as Sergeant Ogunleye Gbenga, Sergeant Olukotun Bunmi and Corporal Omopariola.
The court did not take the plea of accused due to the magnitude of the offence committed.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Segun Ayilara,ordered that the accused persons be remanded in correctional center and adjourned the case till December 18,2019 for mention.
