In Osun: Man Bags 6 Months Jail Term For Stealing

A 25-year-old man, Mudasiru Sodeeq, was on Monday, sentenced to six month imprisonment by an Osun State Magistrate court, sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, for stealing mobile phone that worth N36,500.
The convict was arraigned on a two count-charge bothering on stealing and house breaking.
The accused had admitted guilty of the two count-charge leveled against him by the police.
While presenting the fact of the matter before the court, the prosecutor, Olayiwola Rasaq, told the court that the convict committed the offence sometimes in November 2018 at Oke-Abesu area, Osogbo.
He said the convict in an unlawful manner, entered the shop of one Lasisi Muideen when he was away and he carted away one infinix phone value N36,500, recharge card of N12,000, and a cash sum of N11,500.
He said the offence contravened the provision of Section 390(9) Vol 11, Law of Osun state, 2003.
The convict, who had no legal representation, prayed the court to be merciful with him, promising that he would not go into stealing again.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele, sentenced him to six months imprisonment with an option of fine of fine of N10,000.
