Fake Commissioner Of Police Apprehended by the Zamfara State Police Command

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command SP Shehu Muhammad who paraded the suspect before journalists in Gusau on Wednesday said the suspect has defrauded a serving senator over One Million Six hundred thousand Naira

The PPRO explained that, the suspect Ibrahim Mohammed Maigandi Male of Moriki emirate of Zurmi local Government area of the state was intercepted by the Detectives in Gusau following a complaint received from the serving senator Representing Zamfara West, Senator Lawal Hassan Dan-Iya

According to SP Shehu the suspect presented him self to the senator as the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command CP Usman Nagogo via SMS using MTN number 08138888205 and requested Rams for Sallah which the senator through his personal assistance transferred the sum of two hundred Naira to the fake CP’s account

Subsequently, the impersonator called the senator again informing him that, he was allocated with Nine slots of Cadet ASPs and Seven slots of cadet Inspectors and demanded the senator to pay the sum of two million Naira for the slots,and the serving senator directed his P.A to transferred N1.6 million to the fake commissioner of police

The image maker of the Zamfara police command said, a Mercedes Benz vehicle red in colour without registration number and particulars valued One million four hundred thousand was recovered from the suspect noting that, the vehicle is also suspected to be a stolen one

SP Shehu Who addressed Journalists on behalf of the state CP Usman Nagogo thanked the inspector General of police Muhammad A. Adamu for continued encouragement and logistical support to officers and men of the command which assisted in the discharge of their duties diligently

On his part, the suspect, Ibrahim Mohammed Mai-gandi who confessed to have committed the impersonation, regretted his actions which he described last option he has for the upkeep of his family, as one of his two wives is suffering from Brest cancer and receiving treatment in Abuja

The impersonator brahim Mohammed has a High National Diploma in Business Administration but refused to revealed where he is working With.

The state police command said investigation is in progress with a view to arresting other members of his syndicate and charge them to court for prosecution

However, the command urged the general public to continue to cooperate with the police and other security agencies in their effort to wipe out criminals in the society.
