Policeman Who Gun Down Truck Driver ‘Because Of N50 Bribe’ In Ondo Remanded In Prison

A 37-year old police officer , Idowu Omosuyi, has been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Service by an Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-Eda for allegedly killing a truck driver, Ado Saleh by shooting him on his head with AK47 rifle, which led to his death.

CityMirrorNews Recalls that Omosuyi seven days ago, shot dead a truck driver, Saleh a checkpoint at Uso Junction in Owo Local Council Area of Ondo state following his refusal to pay N50 bribe to him.

Omosuyi who was brought before the presiding Magistrate Charity Adeyanju, on a count charge of murder said to have committed the offence on December 2, 2019, at about 2pm, while on official duty.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Goodluck Uloh told the court that the accused person has committed punishable offence contrary to Section 316 and 319 on the Criminal Code Cap 37, Volume 1, of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

Inspector Uloh, did inform the court that he has a motion on notice for the remand of the accused person in Correctional Service.

Counsel to the accused person, Mr. Ademola Ikujuni opposed the prosecutor’s application, said he was just served with the application in the court, which according to him, was not part of the practice.

Ikujuni therefore prayed the court to order the accused person back to the Police custody.

Magistrate Adeyanju, however ordered that the accused person to be remanded in Olokuta, Correctional service.

She thereafter adjourned the case till December 27, 2019 for hearing of the motion.
