Senator Babajide Omoworare representing Osun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly has identified with victims of the clash between some Yoruba thugs and Hausas in Ile-Ife.

Omoworare who described the clash as unfortunate and avoidable, distributed food items to the Yoruba and Hausa communities, pleading with both sides to embrace peace.

The senator visited the Sabo area where the crisis erupted where he donated bags of rice, beans, and cow to the northerners.

He had earlier donated some bags of rice and beans to the Ife Progressive Forum for the Yoruba victims of the clash.

Speaking at the Oba Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Omoworare attributed the clash to non availability of mechanism to detect conflict and skirmishes at early stage.

The Ife born politician said the communal clash would have been averted had there been in place a mechanism to detect the grievances of the two communities, saying that what led to the violence was a trivial issue which should have been amicably settled.

He stated that he was making moves to ensure that the National Emergency Agency (NEMA) provides relieve materials to the victims of the clash, noting that both the Arewa and Yoruba communities are affected by the crisis.

Omoworare commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the security chiefs in the state for curtailing the crisis on time, saying that their proactive intervention brought the situation to a minimal level.
