Day 5 of Communal Clash: Northerners Begin to Move Out of Ile-Ife

Northerners in Ile-Ife, Osun State have been leaving the ancient town in mass, following the recent clash between them and Yorubas.

Some of the Hausas whose properties were destroyed in the crisis said they have no reason to stay in Ile-Ife any longer, adding that their safety was also important to them.

CityMirrorNews learnt that a large number of the northerners left the ancient city on Friday to their various indigenous states, while some have been traveling out of the city today.

Though peace has been restored to the Sabo area where the communal clash occurred, the area was still deserted as there was no vehicular and human movement.

The security, safety and peace assurance given to the Hausas by Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi did not clear their worries and fear, hence the decision to move out of the ancient city.

There was still heavy presence of security personnel in the ancient town.

Both the Yoruba and Hausa incurred casualties in the communal clash that thrown Ile-Ife into confusion.

CityMirrorNews gathered the police have been making arrest of suspects who were alleged of complicity in the communal clash.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris to investigate the matter just as Aregbesola and Oba Ogunwusi vowed the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
