Court Jails Suspended Prominent Yoruba Monarch
A High Court sitting in Ikeja, on Tuesday sentenced Mutiu Ogundare, the suspended Baale of Shangisha in the Magodo area of Lagos.
The deposed traditional monarch has been sentenced to a 15-year imprisonment.
The traditional monarch has been found guilty of faking his own kidnapping and breaching communal peace.
The Informant247 recalls that the former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode on July 13, 2022, deposed traditional monarch over an incident of kidnap.
Justice Hakeem Oshodi, after five years, on Tuesday, sentenced the traditional monarch, following his conviction of a two-count charges which border on breach of communal peace in the state and faking his own kidnapping.
Also sentenced to the same prison term was Opeyemi Mohammed, his brother.
The court, however frees Abolanle, his wife, having initially vindicated her of the charges earlier filed against her.
