Thuggishness: 4 Remanded In Prison For Killings, Destructions, In Osun
A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital,has on Monday remanded four persons for allegedly killing one John Jonah (male) and Akinwale Kehinde (female) in the year 2021 at Odeyinka village in Ikire area of the State.
The duo were said to have been murdered in cold blood by the accused whose name are Salimon Sherif (40), Fatai Oyebamiji (51), Jamiu (55) and 69-year-old Latifu Alimot.
The four accused persons were arraigned on three-count charges, bordering on murder, Conspiracy, and destruction of properties worth N8M.
Appearing before the court, the prosecutor, Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that Salimon sheriff conspired with three other, who are now at large, unlawfully took the lives of one man,John Jonah and a woman, Akinwale Kehinde, sometimes around 2021 in Odeyinka village area of Ikire in Osun State.
The prosecuting officer,Abiodun, further accused the defendants of destroying cocoa, orange and kolanut trees in a farmland belonging to one of the deceaseds families,Akinwale Segun which valued at N8,000,000 and where his life was being threatened.
Abiodun said the accused persons committed the offences which are contrary to and punishable under section 324, 319(1), 86, 517,and 451 of the criminal code cap. 34. Vol.II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.
In lue of the allegations,the accused persons pleaded not guilty and as the defence counsel, A. O Alabi representing the 1st and 4th defendants urged the court to grant their bail while noting that they would always present themselves to the court anytime.
In the same development, the defence lawyer for 2nd and 3rd, Femi Fafowora also pleaded for their bail after saying that the offences are available ones.
The presiding magistrate, O. A Ayilara however refused to take their plea and ordered them to be remanded to ilesa correctional center.
Ayilara further transfered the case to Ikire Magistrate district while he adjourned the case till 3rd of August, 2022 for mentioning.
