Court Strikes out Suit Against Oluwo, Oba Akanbi Apologises to Court

A suit instituted against the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi by the Oluwo –Oke of Iwo Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye has been struck out.
The case which came up before magistrate Falilat Sodamade on Wednesday in Osogbo was struck out the case base on the notice of discontinuance filed by Oba Adeoye before the court.
Oba Adeoye had filed the suit bearing some allegations on criminal activities against the Oluwo. The case was being handled by Magistrate Olusola Aluko before it was transferred to another court on January 6, 2017, following the controversies that surrounded the matter.
Counsel to the applicant, Mr Soji Oyetayo who was represented by, Mrs Yusuf Oyedele told the court that a notice of discontinuance application has been filed before the court base on the directive of Oba Adeoye.
The Oluwo’s counsel, Chief Olaide Yekinni, acknowledge the letter of discontinuance of the case in the court.
Yekinni while pleading with court said: “I urge this honorable court to give effect to the withdrawal of the application and consider the letter of apology dated 15th Feburary 2017, written by the Oba Abdulrasheed to the court.”
The magistrate, Mrs. Sodamade directed the author of the said apology letter to stand and acknowledge it in the open court.
Oba Akanbi who wrote the apology letter stood up and pleaded with the court to forgive him of any wrongdoing he might have directly or indirectly committed on the matter, saying that he would never be rude of disobey the judiciary.
His word: “I am a friend of the judiciary and I will always be, even when there was a threat to close down Iwo High court due to poor infrastructures, I used my own personal fund to renovate it which runs to millions of naira.
“I want to tell the court that all what happened during the matter was misinformation. My feeling towards that effect has been expressed in the letter before the court.”
Magistrate Sodamade granted the request of discontinuance of the application and struck out all other substantive issues related to the matter.
