World Health Day: NGO Offers Free Medical Services To Osun Market Women, Others

As Nigerians join other nations across the world to celebrate this year World Health Day, a Non Governmental Organisation(NGO), Caring Hands International (CHI) has charged the people on the need to take their health status serious and as important as their daily meal.
The Chief Executive Officer of Caring Hands International, Chief Mrs. Obilomo gave the charge at a free Medical Outreach organised for market men and women at the Akindeko Market , Alekuwodo area, Osogbo.
The free Medical Outreach was organised by CHI in collaboration with the World Health Oganisation(WHO) to mark this year World Health Day.
Obilomo who was represented by the project Coordinator, Jolasun Eunice Olufunke, said there was the need for market men and women to take cognizance of their health status so as to be able to take proper care of it.
According to her International, “World Health Organization was established in 1948 with the aim of bringing sound health to the people not until April 7, 1950 they started celebrating World Health Day and since then it has been the tradition of the Organization to mark World Health Day yearly .
She explained that as the name of their Association implies, they stand to give a caring hands to the people , saying people should remember the theme of this year celebration “Our Planet and Our Health”.
Echoing a similar views, a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Mr. A.O Omisore said CHI took the free health care service to the market in order to create awareness on the Importance of regular medical check up.
Omisore said: “This is one of the easiest way for letting people know how important their health is , bringing free Medication to their door step and to proffer useful advise to them.
“We have done series of medical test for people ranging from blood test,HIV test,BP test and offering Medical Advise concerning their health status”.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our Correspondent appreciated Caring Hands International and World Health Organization for putting this kind of medical services to the vulnerable people to take care of their medical challenges bordering on high blood pressure, HIV, tuberculosis among others.
Mrs. Damilola Elizabeth, Kehinde Awodele and Mrs. Fausat Alabi who spoke separately described the free Medical service as one of the best health programs in Nigeria.
According to them,the free Medical Outreach has afforded vulnerable people the opportunity to have access to quality health services about their health status.
They urged other residents of the state to take advantage of the free Medical service by participating in the program.
They thanked the NGO for bringing this type of Programe to the door step of the people to mark this year world Health Day.
