Osun Assembly Wants Compliance With Public Procurement Law By MD

The Osun House of Assembly has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to comply with the public procurement law in transacting government business.
Mr Kamil Oyedele, the Assembly Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, said this at the 2017 budget defence by MDAs in Osogbo on Thursday.
Oyedele said that the 2016 procurement law was passed by the Assembly and signed into law by the state governor to prevent wasteful spending of public funds.
He said that any person (s) caught violating the procurement law in doing government businesses would be sanction.
Oyedele also said that the 2017 appropriation law should also be strictly adhere to, adding that any agency that spend above the approved budget estimate would also be dealt with according to the law.
Meanwhile, the office of the governor presented a budget estimate of N13 billion for the year to the Assembly.
Mrs Oluwakemi Folashade, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of General Services, while presenting budget, said the estimate was meant for 30 agencies under the governor’s office.
Also, the Rural Water and Environmental Sanitation Agency (RUWESA) also presented a budget estimate of N1.6 billion.
Alhaji Olaposi Adiatu, the General Manager of RUWESA, said the budget was to ensure adequate provision of borehole water and maintaining clean environment among other things in rural communities.
