More facts have emerged over what led to the suspension of Suleiman Adamu as chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

It will be recalled that Suleiman Adamu was suspended by the party leadership for what it termed hate speech on social media.

The Caretaker Chairman allegedly wished President Muhammadu dead through coronavirus.

However, details have emerged as to exactly what was said, where it was said, how and why the comment was made which was received with outcry in pro-Buhari quarters, including the party leadership in the state which suspended him and named a committee to investigate the matter.

In the audio file that has surfaced, Suleiman Adamu, who spoke in Fulfulde, said if he was asked to choose between Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo, he would rather go for Osinbajo.

He had spoken at a meeting of APC stakeholders mostly of Yola South extraction, especially loyalists of immediate past governor, Jibrilla Bindow.

Bindow chaired the meeting, while those in attendance included immediate past Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa who remains in the Assembly as the member representing the Yola South constituency.

In the recorded proceedings of the meeting, it was evident that Adamu’s comment against Buhari was made more as a side comment, clearly not meant for public consumption, except that someone who recorded it, chose to put it out in the social media where it went viral.

Suleiman said, after a number of people had expressed frustration with some party bigwigs, “As for me, being a party administrator, even Buhari himself, what is his impact on the party? Of what value is he to us? How I wish he had contracted the deadly coronavirus, so that Osinbajo would take over.”

Another party faithful at the meeting reiterated that Buhari had better left the scene for the vice president, adding, “We sold our properties to help the president win the election… “Buhari has achieved nothing in Adamawa in the last six years. APC in Adamawa thrives on the legacies of Bindow.”
