Osun Assembly To Start Process To Put LG Administration In Place

The Osun State House of Assembly has assured people of the state that the process of putting a Local Government (LG), Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) and Area Councils (AC) administration in place would begins anytime from now.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Rt Hon. Timothy Owoeye made this known on Wednesday while welcoming members to the third Session of the legislative year at the plenary sitting of the State of Osun House of Assembly Oshogbo.

He commended members of the JUSUN and PASAN for their steadfastness action on long strike embarked upon by it’s members across the country for financial autonomy of legislature.

According to him, “I also use this opportunity to address the burning issues on everyone’s mind. I have listened to various contributions and concerns on the media space and this to me was borne out of the belief that for the people to properly feel the impact of government, a local government administration must be in place”.

The Speaker in the course of his address lauded the members at the various standing committee despite the just suspended strike embarked upon by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria PASAN.

In another development, the State of Osun Legislative Fund Management bill 2021 passed through the first reading after the motion moved by the Majority Leader Hon. Maroof Olanrewaju and seconded by Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi respectively.

The Speaker noted that the bill would put in place legislature in right path.

He said the bill if pass would make provision for various standing committee’s and make funds available for necessary things.

He then committed the bill to committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Public Petitions and Legal Matters to look at it critically and do the needful.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Ila State Constituency, Hon. Lafeet Jayeola in his personal explanation commended the state governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, Hon. Timothy Owoeye , Chief Adebisi Akande and every one who made it possible to count Ila Orangun worthy for a Federal University.
