Strange Sect Surfaces in Kelebe-Osun Community
Kelebe community in Olorunda local government area of Osun state has raised alarm over the presence of strange sect who are practicing Islam, Christianity and Tradition.
Residents of the community, according to report, on Sunday confronted members of the sect, demanding that they leave their community.
The sect who were referred to as “Oju Ona Satia Worldwide Ministry” and “Toriqat Satia Organisation” claimed to be operating three in one religion- Muslim, Christianity and traditional religion.
CityMirrorNews learnt that the Kelebe residents had been living in panic since late last year that the sect settled and built its worship centre in the community.
The protest which started around 7:00am, at a time the religious sect members were gathering for their weekly ‘service’ brought out old and young residents of the community who carried placards of various inscription and chanting songs to drive home their agitation.
The aggrieved protesters accused the sect of ritual activities and practicing what they described as ‘strange religion’ in the community.
Angered by the actions of the protesters who ransacked the sect’s worship centre in search of possible fetish items, members of the sect led by their leader, Mukaila Tiamiyu allegedly confronted some of the community leaders who led the protest thus leading to a serious clash.
But for timely intervention of a team of policemen from Oke-Odo Police Division, the situation would have evolved a tragic dimension as the protesters threatened to burn down the building being used by the religious group.
Some of the placards paraded by the protesters read: “Toriqat Satia Orgnisation is a ritual group and we don’t want them”, “We don’t want kidnappers and ritualists in Kelebe Community”, “All Zones In Kelebe Reject Oluwasatia Worldwide Ministry, they are dangerous people,” among others.
Speaking, the Chairman of Kelebe Community, Alhaji Ismail Adeniyi said the presence of the sect has brought fear to members of the community because their operations were strange to them.
He said the community has petitioned the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, the Commissioner of Police in the state, the Directorate of State Service, Muslim leaders and Christian Association of Nigeria on the strange activities of the sect group.
Adeniyi vowed that the community would not relent until the sect leave the community, saying residents can no longer move freely owing to the presence of the sect’s building in the community.
Reacting, the leader of the controversial ministry, Mukaila Tiamiyu, debunked the allegation that the group is ritualistic. He said that the religious organisation is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission.
Tiamiyu said there are about 11 branches of the religious movement in Osun state, wondering why the community would be protesting their stay in the area.
He vowed to resist any attempt by the community to stop their activities maintaining that the group is recognised by law.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun state Police Command, Mrs Folasade Odoro said the police was not aware of the protest, assuring that urgent step would be taken to investigate the matter.
