Oladoyin Preaches Prioritisation Of Education Sector
…as Osun Govt. inaugurates Board of Governors (BOGs) For Public Schools in the state
Osun Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin has called on governments at all levels to give priority to the Education Sector so as to secure a better future for the country through the creation of a total man.
The Commissioner stated this on Wednesday while speaking at the inauguration of the Board of Governors (BOGs)for public secondary schools across the state.
He described Education as an effective tool that can promote the transformation and development of individuals from the point of ignorance to the state of enlightenment and self awareness.
Speaking on the inauguration of the Board of Governors, Oladoyin said the move became necessary because it will go along way in ensuring effective governance in public schools and bring about sanity in the education sector.
Stating some of the terms of references for the BOGs, the Commissioner said they are to collaborate with school management to develop an infrastructural development plan that will cover three years in the first instance among others which also includes mobilizing parents and old students to assist in maintenance of school.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi said the inauguration of the BOGs is a symbolic step aimed at putting schools back on track.
Olawumi who urged the BOGs not to let government down in the discharge of their duties congratulated the members on their new responsibility, stressing that it is necessary for them to work with other stakeholders in Education to better the lives of the future generation.
While responding, some members of the BOGs thanked the Oyetola administration for helping to restore schools back to it’s original phase, while promising to live up to expectations.
Members of the Board of Governors include: Teachers, School Principals, Clergy Men, Old Students Association, Parents Forum among others.
