Osun Guardian Correspondent Emerges Chapel Chairman

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Osun State has conducted its by-election into the vacant Chairmanship position.
Mr Tunji Omofoye of the guardian newspaper was elected.
Omofoye garnered 14 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr Adeolu Adeyemo of the New Telegraph who polled 11 votes.
The newly elected chairman would run the affairs of the chapel for the next one and half year.
CityMirrorNews reports that the chairmanship position became vacant following the appointment of the immidiate past Chairman, Comrade Olaniyi Ajibola as the Chief Press Secretary to the state Deputy Governror.
In his acceptance speech, Omofoye
hailed members of the chapel for the confidence reposed on him and solicited more support for the executives in the next one and half year.
Omofoye promised that the chapel under him would witness tremendous changes and transformation to the chapel in all spheres through keeping the spirit of unity and brotherhood among members.
Also speaking, the Osun NUJ Assistance Secretary, Mr Shina Abubakar commended members of the chapel for their unalloyed support to the state council of the NUJ.
Abubakar who came as an observer being a member of the state Executive advised the newly elected Chairman and his team to put everything possible towards taking the chapel to greater heights.
He said, ” I want to admonish our new Chairman today to ensure that the next one and half year, the chapel witness reforms and improvement especially on members. It is a call to service and don’t forget it is necessary and important that you work together with every members of this chapel.”
