The People’s Chief Servant Retires By Jamiu Ganiyu
On Thursday, May 21, 2020, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, officially left the Osun State civil service after more than three decades meritorious service to the people of Osun and Oyo where he started his career.
No doubt, he has diligently created a niche for himself in the history of Osun public service particularly Osun SUBEB where he spent the last decade of his active service.
As a dutiful civil servant, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole brought to the table, humanity, compassion, love, selflessness, community service, empowerment and philanthropism.
He has indeed redefined the idea of a civil servant being only useful to their immediate family and had shown the world that within a given small space, an individual can serve the nation.
He was privileged to work in close range with three successive governors of Osun and three Head of Service of the State, I doubt there is a civil servant that is so blessed in recent time that much and doubt if there would be any so soon.
Fatai Kolawole will always be remembered for putting Osun infrastructures renewal program in proper perspectives coupled with several curriculum enrichment activities including emphasis on character moulding , talent discoveries, teachers welfare etc happened during the period
The veteran educationist has been able to put basic education and by extension Osun SUBEB in proper perspective both at home and the committee of States of the federation as attested to by the independent periodic review of our activities by Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC), Abuja, the last one which Osun ranked 2nd among other reliable education development indicators
Let me thank the torchbearers the three successive Governors particularly Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, interior Minister of the federal Republic of Nigeria and Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun for the rare privilege given to you to come this far and enabling environment to thrive.
While wishing you a joyous moment ahead, I am confident that exiting the civil service will afford you to concentrate more on community service, mentoring of younger folks and hasten the opening of a greater chapter in the onerous task of nation-building.
Congratulations, sir.
