Bar Association(IBA), WestAfrica Bar Association (WABA), Nigeria Bar

The aforementioned eminent and international organizations have been
penciled down to receive the group’s letter so as to prevail on the Osun
State Government and other concerns authorities to respect the Supreme
Court verdict on the Chieftaincy matter.

The group insisted that it would not fold its arms and allow some elements
in the society to continue subvert the rule of law by imposing deposed
“Akesin” title on the people of Ora-Igbomina kingdom, declaring that it
would not keep quiet in the face of continuing poking fingers into the eyes
of the law.

This was contained in a signed statement by CHRSJ’s Executive Chairman,
Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and copies were made available to newsmen on
Thursday.

The statement noted that the purpose of its action was to inform the
aforementioned people and organizations on the implications of disobedience
to Supreme Court Judgement.

It added that they should not watch the hallow temple and wheel of justice
to be scuttled by some elements because of selfish interest.

Supporting its argument with the position of the erudite jurist,Justice
Kayode Eso,JSC ( as he then was) that ” Court order are meant to be obeyed
by the parties- the plaintiff, the defendant, the Prosecutor and the
accused.A party who fails or refuses to Obey the Court orders does not only
shows disregard to the Constitution, the Laws of the land and justice.Be an
individual or Corporate organization, disobedience of Court orders is
inimical to the well established tenets of democracy, because by the
conduct , not only the rule of law is brutalized but the administration of
justice in the society.Above all,it is a most uncivilized conduct”.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Court of Nigeria had made a final
decision on the Ora-Igbomina Obaship tussle in a Supreme Court suit Number.
256/1989 on September 1st,1995, where it declared that “Akesin Ora?” was
not an Oba, not to talk wearing beaded Crown but one of the Chiefs of
Asaoni of Ora-Igbomina kingdom and also awarded N1,000 against the
acclaimed “Akesin Ora”.
