Let Him Blast Me, Osun Education Commissioner Reacts To Aregbesola’s Comment
The Osun Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin has attacked those criticizing him for not present at Ogedengbe School of Science during a handing over ceremony which was attended by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Recalls that Aregbesola, a former Governor of the state during the event lambasted the commissioner and described him as unserious element for sending his ‘Personal Assistant’ to represent him when he’s aware that I will be coming for this occasion
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi, posted on social media saying, the Commissioner admitted being blasted by the former governor, adding that he is Aregbesola’s follower who wouldn’t mind being blasted over again.
In setting the record straight, the Commissioner said, “At our last management meeting in January, the top management of the Ministry of education fixed the education policies review submit for 20th and 21st of February. Precisely on the 13th of February, I received a letter from an NGO inviting me to the handing over ceremony of a CSR project donated by HUAWEI telecommunications to be held at ilesa school of science on the 21st of February, a day which the Ministry had already set aside for our policy review submit.
“The extant education policies review submit started its sitting on the 20th of February as planned and on the evening of the first day, the chief of staff to the Governor briefed me that the Secretary to the state government (SSG), the chief of staff (COS) and the Hon commissioner for education (HCE) will proceed to ilesa the following day(21/2/20) to represent Osun government and Mr Governor at the burial service of Dr Amiel Modupe Fagbulu, a renowned educationist who contributed a lot to the development of education in Nigeria and Osun.
“So when it was clear that I was not going to be able to personally attend the handing over ceremony at Ogedengbe school of science ilesa because of these other events mentioned above, I sent the Tutor General of Ife Ijesa district and Dr Elufisan who is my personal assistant to represent the Ministry of education at the event. Their presence there was to appreciate the company for the intervention and to also encourage them and other corporate organisations to do more.
“We didn’t know the Minister was there and nobody called us to confirm that he was coming. In any case I was already in ilesa on that day representing the Osun government at the burial service of Dr Fagbulu, it wouldn’t have cost me any additional effort to cross over to ogedengbe school of science to welcome the minister who is our leader and mentor.
“For those trying to make a mountain out of this mole hill, just back off. I served under our leader for eight years and I dare say I am one of his lieutenants. Let him blast me, it’s none of your business. Na Oga dey blast Omo ise now. What is strange there and wetin be your own.”
