Insecurity: Ooni, Alaafin ,Sultan, Oba Of Benin , Others To Brainstorm In Osun

Perturbed by current security imbroglio in Nigeria and in an effort to find lasting solution to the problem, an organization, Center for Black Culture and International Understanding, Osogbo, has concluded arrangements to organize a two-day global security summit.

The security summit, which is expected to hold between Wednesday, February 12th and Thursday, February 13, will feature discussions on theme; “The Role of Traditional Institutions In Security in Nigeria”.

CityMirrorNews reports that in the high powered discussions, prominent traditional rulers, security experts, government agencies and other stakeholders in the security sector in the country are expected to brainstorm on the security in the state

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, the Executive Director of the center, Professor Siyan Oyeweso revealed that speakers drawn from the six geopolitical zones will be speaking on different sub-themes all relating to bringing an end to insecurity in Nigeria.

Among sub-themes are: Aerial Survey of the Six Geo-Political Boundaries; News Media, Intelligence Gathering and Security Matters; Effective Policing of Highways/Expressways; Rethinking the Place of Community Policing in Managing Security Threats
and Challenges; The Role of NURTW in Security Management and Intelligence Gathering, among others.

Oyeweso stated that the center is disturbed that traditional rulers in the country have also become victims of insecurity as many of them have been kidnapped for ransoms.

He added that the centre has also invited traditional rulers across the country to be part of this discussion as it’s aimed at finding lasting solution to the insecurity bedeviling their domains.

Among traditional rulers expected at the event are The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, among others.
