Ishaya Itse Gives Scholarship to Indigent Students

Over twenty students from Jos North and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau state, received scholarship to pursue the studies.

A philanthropist, Hon. Ishaya Itse from Nukpis District of Jos North LGA made the donation at the Izere Arena Gwafan(Lamingo), in Jos.

According to him, “most of the beneficiaries are orphans and one of the major reasons I decided to issue the scholarship is that, education is the only investment that we can invest on the younger ones and is the bedrock of development of any society.

“Nigeria can only develop when we all put our hands on deck to promote the sector for sake of the younger ones. I carried out a research on the impact of single parenting on child Education, I then discovered that some of the orphans cannot afford to pay their school fees due to lack of finance. This gesture will go along way to impact on their lives.

“I therefore admonish the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose meant. The event brought people of the two local governments together which coincidentally from same constituency of Jos North/Bassa constituency.

The Chairman of Afizere Youth Movement,Jos Izere chiefdom, Jos North LGA,Comrade Joseph Arin Izang commended the donor. He said, “He is worthy of emulation by all and sundry. We consider this exercise very germane because you will agree with me that education is a composite demand in the 21st century visa-vis technological advancement for egalitarian society.”

He equally used the medium to sympathies with the People of Mupun nation over the killings of Late Ropvil Dacina who until his death was a 200 level Student of Biology Education of the University of Maiduguri and other worthy Plateau Sons and Daughters that were murdered in cold blood by Boko Haram.

Arin further condemned the kidnapping of Bashiru Abdulahi from Kanam local government, a health worker and miss Lilian Gyang, a 100 level student of University of Maiduguri.

He said, “As Afizere Youths in Jos North Local Government Area, we are disturbed by the escalating state of insecurity on our dear nation.
“Equally, our hearts and prayers goes to the people of Kwatas, Marish, and Ruboi, all in Bokkos LGA on the recent attack by gunmen which led to the loss of lives and destruction of property, in this most trying and devastating time that religious extremism on the innocent Plateau citizens. We therefore, call on government at all levels to take proactive measures and curtail this heinous acts for peace to prevail.”

Hon. Michael Abok Izang, Education secretary of Jos North Local Government Area presented a paper on the theme: The Role of counsellors to students on vocational choice and its relevance to community development.

The event attracted youth leaders of Irigwe, Anaguta and Berom as well as the parents of the beneficiaries,Traditional Rulers,politicians among others all showered encomiums on the donor and appeal for peace and unity among the people of Jos North, Bassa and Plateau state as a whole irrespective of Ethnic, Religious and political inclinations.
