Youth Investment, A Huge Step To Actualize The Nigerian Project – Sunday Dare

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has called for urgent attention in Youth Investment from all stakeholders especially government in critical sectors to make for the sustainable stablilization of the Nigerian Project.


The bankable investments in education, technology, agriculture and developmental infrastructure sustained according to the Minister would be the way to go as a wise form of investment for the emancipation of Nigerian Youths.


Delivering the 13th Annual Lecture of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso ALUMNI on the topic, “Constructive Youth Partnership In The Nigerian Project: A Sustainable Model,” Dare posited that the investments would cater for the ruins occasioned by the deviation of the nation from developmental plans for infrastructural and institutional rationalizations.


He beamoned the issues straining full adherence to national ethos in nepotism, lack of patriotism and rolling petrol wealth all which the Youth if invested wisely in will change as a major resource for national prosperity.


The Minister used the occasion to enumerate the plans of the federal government in the revised National Youth Policy (2019-2023) with 11 key thematic areas of sports, Education, science and technology, agriculture, environment, drug abuse, Health etc.


“Ownership of the Nigerian Project by Young people by promoting and nuturing Youth-led social business; we must develop strategies to transfer ownership of the Nigerian Project to yourh. One of the ways we can do this is through the concept of social business. The underlying value to communicate is CARE.”


“De-emphasize the things that divide us (religion, ethnicity, place of origin, etc) on official documents and transactions: majority of our youth are millennia. They live most of their lives on the internet, which has broken down boundaries and miniaturized the world into one huge space.”


“Institute a reward system that Honours and promotes Nigerian value that speak to the Nigerian Project: we must keep the young people inspired and focused towards the Nigerian Project. Our strategy is simple: – each person contributing from their little space: government, private sector, civil society and development partners.”


“The next level belongs to the Nigerian Youth. Mr President’s has a new DEEL (D. for digital literacy, E for entrepreneurship, E for employability, L for leadership) for the youth; to train and equip Nigerian youth with the skills they need to compete for national development.”


In his remarks, the National President of LAUTECH ALUMNI, Hon Solomon Onilede applauded the Minister for working hard and championing the course of the Nigerian Youths.


Onilede noted the sterling contributions of the association to practically invest in the alma Mater especially in attracting a 25 million state of the art e-library from the Maigida foundation to be commissioned soon, scholarship scheme and the facilitation of numerous beneficial projects to the ivory tower. 

He said the topic of the lecture was expedient to seek solutions towards driving the economy through industrialization, mechanized agriculture and technology  all which can be optimized through computer technology configuration done by the Youths.


The Vice chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof Michael Ologunde praises the ALUMNI for being at the forefront of developmental oriented programmes in the glory of the university.


Ologunde also commended the Minister for contributing his quota to the development of the citadel of learning assuring that LAUTECH will not deviate from being at the forefront of excellence in technological development.


The Minister was awarded by the LAUTECH ALUMNI, SUG, Fresh Graduates of the institution while he also donated computer sets to the ICT department of the university, pledging to support the association’s annual reunion as well as to facilitate the establishment of LAUTECH Radio.
