Ondo 2020: Jegede Meets Supporters At Local Level

Ahead of the 2020 Ondo state governorship election, a front-line governorship aspirant and former candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2016 governorship election, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has declared his intention to contest in the forthcoming election.

Jegede who commenced his declaration with consultation with party leaders across the 18 local government areas of the state said he decided to start the consultation meeting in Akure South to prove the point that charity must begin at home.

The PDP aspirant who was accompanied by his numerous supporters firstly met with the leaders of the party in Akure South Local Government and later moved to Idanre Local Government to also consult with the leaders of the party in the area.

Addressing PDP leaders and stakeholders drawn from Akure South and Idanre local governments separately, Jegede said he was in the local governments to thank the leaders for their unflinching support during the 2016 governorship election in the state.

He also appreciated them for the efforts during the last National Assembly and Presidential election which gave the PDP two senators and more House of Representatives members in the state.

While reminding them of the need to build a solid party ahead of the coming governorship election in the state, the legal luminary however solicited the support of party leaders in his fresh attempt at having a shot at the governorship position come to the 2020 election.

His words, “I am here to thank you for the support you gave me during the 2016 governorship election. I see myself as somebody who ready to serve. I contested the last gubernatorial election and we knew the result, the following day we went to church to thank God for how far He had helped us. Now, I consulted God Almighty again, I asked if I should go forward on this project, He answered me that I should go ahead.

” I am asking you whether to go ahead or not? This is not the time for the campaign. We will surely come back when the time comes. I seek your support for our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and appreciate you for all your efforts both during the 2016 governorship election and the last general elections”.

Reacting on behalf of the leaders in Idanre local government, former Chief of Staff to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, noted that people are suffering in the state under the present administration.

Ademujimi who added that things are not the same again since the exit of the PDP government in the state urged members to remain loyal to the party ahead of the coming election.

He noted that the party is more formidable under the current state leadership and enjoined other aspirants to join hands together to build the party.

He further disclosed that the crisis rocking the ruling party in the state now is an indication that God is behind the PDP to deliver the people of the state from the ravaging poverty the current administration bestowed on the people.

Also on behalf of the leaders in Akure South local government, Hon. Tony Ala, noted that the Jegede’s aspiration is a work that must be done by every party members in the local government.

Ala and other leaders including the lawmaker representing Akure North/ South federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedayo Omolafe urged the people of the local government to see the project as a task that must be achieved by all.
