Police nab Prophet for raping 13-year-old boy
The Police in Anambra State have arrested an acclaimed Prophet with Jesus Miracle Ministry, Ifite-Awka, Ekene Aboji, 35, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old boy after a night vigil.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Nkeiru Nwode, said in Awka on Tuesday that the incident occurred on August 19 at the Church premises.
Nwode told newsmen that medical report showed that the victim sustained bruises on his neck and anus.
According to her, investigations are ongoing.
She said: “This is a case of homosexual and unnatural offence; a situation where you have unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.
“The young boy went for the vigil and was asked by the prophet to stay behind since it was late to return home.
“The boy obliged only to be forced by the suspect who had carnal knowledge of him through the anus.
“When the police got the information, we swung into action and went to the Church to arrest him but he was at large.
“The suspect absconded and he was nowhere to be found when information reached him that the police were seeking to arrest him.”
Nwode said the mother-in-law of the prophet was arrested.
The suspect was later arrested on August 25 while attempting to settle the matter outside the police case.
She described the incidence as “unfortunate” and advised parents to take proper care of their children.
However, Aboji denied the allegation, saying he only advised the boy against going home after the vigil for his safety.
The suspect said he was surprised to receive information that some irate youths with dangerous weapons had stormed his house with the allegation that he raped the minor.
On his part, the minor claimed that he woke up from sleep when the suspected rapist grabbed him by the neck and unbuckled his belt.
