Baptist Youth Fellowship Launches Book
The Youth Fellowship of First Baptist Church, Jos, Plateau State today, Sunday launched its book titled, “The Reflections: History of the Youth Fellowship, First Baptist Chuch, Jos 1972 – 2019.
The seven-chapter book was launched in the Church auditorium during the 2019 Baptist Youth Week Celebration service.
The Pastor of the Church Reverend Sunday Abolarinwa Fabunmi who wrote the foreword of the book said that “one of the problems confronting the 21st century generation of young people is a lack of respect and value for history.”
He noted that “there are so many lessons we can learn from writing history especially if the research is properly and sincerely carried out.”
He added that people should be mindful of what they are doing with whatever privilege or opportunity they have while commending the Fellowship for publishing the book.
The Chief launchers, Mr. Oyediran Victor of OYEVICH Oil and Gas and Deacon Michael Odeyale of Shadorc Global (Shadorc Bread) applauded the Youth Fellowship of the First Baptist Church, Jos for documenting the history of the Fellowship.
They said that it was a legacy that would outlive this generation and be highly resourceful to coming generations.
While speaking, the President of the Fellowship, Bro. Jide Afolabi said that the aim for writing the book was to “celebrate the past achievements of the Fellowship and learn from the mistakes.”
He stated that “the book will help readers to appreciate where the Youth Fellowship of the Chuch started from; where it is and the greater heights that God is taking it to.”
He added that “a glance through the book will help readers to have firsthand knowledge of the history of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBC, and its affiliates and the First Baptist Church, Jos”
The National Coordinator of the Youth Ministry of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, Reverend IbukunOluwa Joshua, and the National President, Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, Deacon Habbakkuk Isahku wrote the foreword and preface respectively.
The book will be useful to researchers on Baptist and Baptist youths in Nigeria.
