Breaking: PDP Postpones National Convention Indefinitely for 2nd Time
By Lukman Ayelabola
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its National Convention scheduled to hold today, August 17, indefinitely.
This is the second time the embattled party would be postponing its national convention amidst controversies.
According to information at the disposal of CityMirrorNews, the postponement might not be unconnected with the court injunction obtained by the factional chairman of the PDP, Alhaj Alimodu Sheriff against the Port-Harcourt convention.
Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Tuesday issued an interlocutory injunction restraining the PDP from electing officials into its national offices until a substantive application before it is determined.
The court also directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to ensure the convention does not hold.
Dr Bayo Faforiji, a factional Chairman of the PDP in Osun State, confirmed the postponement.
Faforiji said: The convention has been postponed. We do not know the reason yet, but more details will emerge in the next few hours.”
