Plateau Police Command Raises Concerns on Increasing Car Theft, Promises to Crack Syndicates

The Nigeria Police Force, Plateau State Command, has raised concerns on what it termed “the sudden resurgence of crimes like Car Snatching and Removal of Vehicles from where parked which hitherto were not witnessed in the State.”

The Command said that it may not be unconnected with the quest for money to celebrate the forthcoming Easter seasons.

In a press release issued today, Monday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tyopev Matthias Terna, the Command advised car owners to increase the security of their vehicles.

“The Command wishes to advise vehicle owners in the state to take minimum security measures in safeguarding their vehicles by getting for themselves either pedal or steering locks in addition to the tracking devices being used by some people.”

“Moreover, the Command advice that whenever an occasion is to take place in any location within the state, the organizers should endeavor to inform the DPO of that area for either security coverage or advice.” The statement said.

Tyopev added that the Command is working round the clock to ensure the apprehension of members of the Car Snatching syndicate for investigation and prosecution.

Car theft has increased in the state in recent time.
